Stevens Records [Granite City]

The Stevens Recording Company was owned and operated by Fred and Bill Stevens from 1958-1959.  The father and son were painting contractors with an establish painting business at 2213 Washington Avenue in Granite City, Illinois.   Most of the recordings were made at Technisonic Studios in St. Louis with a couple done at Premier Studios in St. Louis and one at KXEL radio station in Wood River, Illinois.  The Stevens label released just seven singles.

  1. NOTE: "Icky Renrut" was an alias for Ike Turner, who was still under contract to Sun Records in Memphis when he recorded these sides for the Stevens label.
